We have advised on a broad range of projects including commercial, industrial, retail, hotel and leisure, energy, utilities and other major projects such as large engineering schemes and infrastructure projects. We have extensive experience of the principal standard form contracts including FIDIC, JCT, NEC, RIBA, ACE, IChemE and IEE as well as many forms of bespoke contract.

Our experience includes:

  • Advising and representing a consortium in a multi-hundred million US dollar arbitration relating to a nuclear power plant project in the Middle East.
  • Representing one of the world’s largest engineering companies in a multi-million dollar contractual dispute under the rules of the DIFC-LCIA (subject to UAE law).
  • Advising an Italian contractor on an international arbitration arising out of the construction of a large New Town mixed-use development project in Hong Kong.
  • Representing a Middle Eastern state in an LCIA arbitration arising out of a contract to construct a power plant.
  • Advising on a major negligence claim arising from the extensive refurbishment of a parliamentary building involving two sets of arbitration proceedings and had been settled following two days of mediation.
  • Representing the claimant in LCIA arbitration proceedings concerning the production of faulty turbines for a nuclear power station.

Acting for a Malaysian defence contractor in an SIAC arbitration against a South Asian State in a dispute arising out of the establishment of a major defence project in the State.

Acting for Jaguar Energy in claims arising out of delay to the construction of a power plant in Central America, including claims for delay/extensions of time, and breaches of the construction contract and vendor financing agreements. The dispute was beset with innumerable extra-contractual efforts made to derail the arbitration. Secured arbitration award in favour of the client for over US$150 million. The award was challenged unsuccessfully by the contractor in the Singapore Courts.
